Content Brief Generator
Give it a topic, a persona, and a funnel stage — get back a complete, writer-ready brief covering audience context, the one thing, structural sequence, proof points, CTA, and success metrics.
What it does
Produces a complete brief across eleven sections, anchored to your messaging framework and persona documents:
- Brief header — format, length, persona, funnel stage, primary goal, publish date
- Audience context — who the reader is, their current situation, why they're reading now, their pre- and post-read belief states
- Strategic context — which messaging framework element this piece serves and why it matters now
- The one thing — a single sentence every element of the content must support
- Structural guide — opening objective, 3–5 key body moves, close objective, and the rationale for that sequence
- Proof points and evidence — required data, case studies, and gaps where evidence is missing
- Voice and tone notes — range relative to brand voice and channel
- What to avoid — 2–3 explicit framing risks, forbidden assumptions, and irrelevant angles
- CTA — exact text, placement guidance, and why it fits the funnel stage
- Success metrics — primary KPI and supporting indicators
- SEO notes — primary keyword, secondary terms, search intent, and competitor context (if applicable)
If the brand's messaging framework or persona documents are not attached, the output is labelled PROVISIONAL BRIEF — FRAMEWORK CONTEXT MISSING.
When to use it
Use it before writing any long-form content piece. Works best in a Claude.ai Project with your messaging framework and persona documents attached — the skill treats those as its primary strategic reference. Sonnet is the recommended model; brief generation is a well-scoped structured task that doesn't require Opus. The output from persona-builder drops directly into the persona input.
When not to use it
- For social or short-form ad copy — the brief format is sized for long-form content
- For repurposing or reformatting existing content — this generates briefs for new pieces
- Without a clear topic — a vague input produces a vague brief; narrow the topic before running it
